Junius Allen was considered one of the most promising artists of the twentieth century for his naturalistic and enticing paintings of coastal landscapes and harbors in Maine, New Jersey, New York, and New England. He earned distinguished roles as a member of the Salmagundi Club and academician of the National Academy of Design during his lifetime, as well as numerous exhibitions along the Northeast coast. His work can be found today in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Montclair Art Museum, the Art Museum of the New Britain Institute, and the State Teachers College of Trenton, New Jersey in addition to many private and institutional collections.
