Hilltop Farm

Gershon Camassar, born in Columbia, Connecticut, painted primarily in the southeastern region of his home state with the exception of sojourns to Vermont during the autumn months. His fascination with farming as a youth carried over to his art when he began painting at the age of seventeen, and his landscapes are impressionistic and unabashedly rural. A self-taught artist, he exhibited regularly with the Lyme Art Association between 1957 and 1994. He was also a member of the Mystic Arts Association. He owned and operated Brater's Art and Frame Shop in downtown New London, Connecticut with his brother for over forty years.
