Florence Minard Biography

FLORENCE MINARD

(1886-1985)

Florence Minard was born in Maine on Dec. 3, 1886. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1903, Minard settled in Berkeley, CA. She taught art at Mills College from 1922-44. While at Mills, she illustrated a book about Santa Claus and was credited with saving Berkeley's Aquatic Park from development. A spinster, Minard died in Berkeley on Feb. 19, 1985.
