LODEWIJK KAREL BRUCKMAN

(1903-1995)

 

Lodewijk Karel Bruckman is best known for his genre, still-life, and portrait paintings in the style of magical realism. A native of Holland, Bruckman received his Master of Arts at The Hague Academy of Fine Arts, and continued his studies in Munich, Florence, Paris, and London. He settled in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1953, where he opened a summer studio, and was active there and in New York City. In the winter months, he often travelled to tropical locales such as Florida, Cuba, and Mexico. He exhibited at Grand Central Galleries in New York, and the Boston Arts Festival.
