Bruce Beasley (b. 1939) was born in Los Angeles and is thought of as a cherished California artist. His works are in private and museum collections around the world. Bruce showed a talent for metalwork as a child and nurtured his interest in art as an undergraduate at Dartmouth. He graduated with a degree in art in 1962 from UC Berkeley and set up his studio in West Oakland. He has bequeathed to the Oakland Museum of Art.
Voyager came to us from the estate of a local family, a very artistic family. No, Bruce Beasley's is neither a Connecticut or New England artist and doesn't sculpt in a style of art we might be known for but we jumped at the opportunity to work with such a monumental piece by such a significant American artist. Contradictions are best when they are balanced against each other, the "perfect point between change and stillness." Voyager stands proud and immovable as it soars through space.
